Abstract：
This course of five lectures is meant as an introduction to the notion of stability conditions, a refinement of t-structures, due to Tom Bridgeland (following ideas of Michael Douglas). We shall start with basics on abelian and triangulated categories, but the classical theory will be presented from the beginning from the view point of the main theme. A short reminder on derived and triangulated categories will be included, so that that students with no prior knowledge in the subject will have a chance to follow. The topics will include:
1. (Quasi-)abelian categories, Grothendieck group, stability functions on abelian categories, slicing of abelian categories, Harder-Narasimhan filtrations
2. Triangulated and derived categories.
3. t-structures and slicings of triangulated categories.
4. Torsion theories and t-structures.
5. The space of stability conditions.
